Baseball Recap: Eastern Montgomery Mustangs vs. Bath County Chargers
Eastern Montgomery extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-13. They lost 8-0 to the Bath County Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-6 defeat two weeks ago.
Eastern Montgomery saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Coltin Conner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Bath County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Considering they have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Bath County's side, Dylan Hicklin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Hicklin was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Owen Perdue was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Gunnar Whiddon also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Coming up, Eastern Montgomery will welcome Parry McCluer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bath County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
