Basketball Game Preview: Estill County Engineers vs. Powell County Pirates

Estill County and Powell County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2022, but not for long. The Estill County Engineers will head out on the road to challenge the Powell County Pirates at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Estill County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Powell County likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Estill County was able to grind out a solid victory over Owsley County, taking the game 67-58.

Meanwhile, after only 23 points in their last game, Powell County made sure to put some points up on the board against Lee County on Tuesday. Powell County enjoyed a cozy 78-60 win over Lee County. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Bobcats are ranked 259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Powell County's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Estill County, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Estill County came up short against Powell County in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 50-45. Can Estill County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
