Baseball Recap: Fairview Comes Up Short

If Fairview was feeling good fresh off their 13-4 takedown of Camden Central on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yellowjackets fell just short of the Sycamore War Eagles by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the War Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Collin Hesselrode was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Fairview's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Sycamore, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season.

While Fairview had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
