Baseball Recap: Oak Forest Academy's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

Oak Forest Academy dropped their record down to 23-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins at home. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Parklane Academy Pioneers. The Yellowjackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 7-0.

Oak Forest Academy got a good showing from Brody Thomas, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Cole Covington made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

As for Parklane Academy, the victory got them back to even at 12-12. Surprisingly, this marked their fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

On Parklane Academy's side, Aidan Nickles looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The Pioneers are undefeated when Nickles allows one or fewer earned runs, but 9-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Parklane Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Chandler, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave Chandler a new career-high. Another was Collin Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

While Oak Forest Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
