The Portsmouth West Senators will square off against the Dawson-Bryant Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Portsmouth West is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Fairfield 9-8. Winning may never get old, but the Senators sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Lainey Cook was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Maleah Whitman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Dawson-Bryant got themselves on the board against Peebles on Friday, but Peebles never followed suit. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Indians, sneaking past 2-0. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.
The result came thanks to Abbie Deeds's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Izzy Kitts, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kendall Taylor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Dawson-Bryant pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Portsmouth West, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
Portsmouth West took their win against Dawson-Bryant in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
