Basketball Game Preview: Dreher Blue Devils vs. Irmo Yellow Jackets

Dreher hasn't had much luck against Irmo recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dreher Blue Devils will be home for the holidays to greet the Irmo Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m.

Dreher will face Irmo after dropping another heartbreaker against Orangeburg-Wilkinson on Tuesday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 3.1 of beating them. Dreher fell just short of Orangeburg-Wilkinson by a score of 45-43. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Bruins are ranked 15th).

Meanwhile, Irmo came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Capitals as they made off with a 69-49 victory. The Yellow Jackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season.

Dreher's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Irmo, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Things could have been worse for Dreher, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-44 loss to Irmo when the teams last played back in February of 2022.
