Chowchilla (Calif.) reaches section final thanks to determined effort.

Football is a game of inches.

Chowchilla proved it can also be a game of wills Friday against Golden West (Visalia) in California's Central Section Division IV semifinals.

The Redskins were less than 10 yards away from the end zone trailing 24-20 with time winding down on the game and perhaps their season.

Receiver Damon Perry caught a pass, ran diagonally across the field and pitched the ball to Ronnie Reyes.

The senior running back refused to be denied, dragging a defender five yards into the end zone for the wild game-winning touchdown.

Sometimes different is better.

Chowchilla escaped with a thrilling 26-24 victory and will battle Selma in the Division IV final next Friday.
