With a playoff win on the line, Wootton rose to the challenge  on Monday. They slipped by the Sherwood Warriors  45-44. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Warriors  back in February, they had to take a  41-38  defeat.
 Leading Wootton to victory were  Maya Bellamy and  Malia Bellamy.  Maya  dropped  a double-double with 21 points and 11  boards, while  Malia  dropped  a double-double with 13  points and 19  rebounds. Maya has become a key player for Wootton: the team is 7-2 when she posts  at  least  ten  rebounds, but 3-10 otherwise.  Gabriella Guidorizzi was another key player,  putting up five points in addition to five  assists and five  boards.
 Sherwood's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Aubree Thompson, who  went 5-for-9  en route to 15  points and four  steals. That's the most  steals  Thompson has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was  Avery Graham, who  scored 12 points along with seven  rebounds and four  steals.
The  victory (which was Wootton's third in a row) raised their record to 10-12. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points on average over those games. As for Sherwood,  with the  defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-6.
 Wootton has  already played their next  contest (against Rockville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sherwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
