Basketball Game Preview: Thompson Tommies vs. Four Winds/Minnewaukan Indians

The Thompson Tommies will head out to take on the Four Winds/Minnewaukan Indians at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Thompson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Dakota's top teams: Devils Lake, who was ranked third at the time (Thompson was ranked sixth). Thompson fell 76-63 to Devils Lake on Friday. The Tommies haven't had much luck with the Firebirds recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Braden Tyce, who shot 60% from the field on his way to 14 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023. Karter Peterson was another key player, going 7-for-11 en route to 17 points.

Even though they lost, Thompson was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their second loss (out of 14 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Four Winds/Minnewaukan didn't have quite enough to beat Hillsboro/Central Valley on Friday and fell 57-55.

Thompson's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Four Winds/Minnewaukan, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

Thompson took their win against Four Winds/Minnewaukan in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 69-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thompson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
