Softball Recap: Hillside Takes a Loss

Hillside dropped down to 13-7 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the East Chapel Hill Wildcats, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Hornets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Hillside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maliya Blandford, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Blandford is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played.

As for East Chapel Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

On East Chapel Hill's side, McKenna White was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. White was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Esha Kamath was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Josie Coulter also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As of now, neither Hillside nor East Chapel Hill have any future games scheduled.
