Volleyball Recap: Monroe Area Gets the Win

The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Elbert County Blue Devils on Thursday.

Kaliyah Ansley paced Monroe Area's offense, picking up ten kills. Ansley got some help from Alyssa Brown and her 22 assists. Ashley Phiel controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Monroe Area's victory bumped their record up to 13-24. As for Elbert County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-15 record this season.

Monroe Area will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Morgan County at 5:00 p.m. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Purple Hurricanes surely won't give up without a fight. Elbert County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
