Basketball Recap: Sandhills Valley Comes Up Short

Sandhills Valley is still winless after their game against South Loup on Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 27-24 heartbreaker at the hands of South Loup. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 36-35 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Sandhills Valley still got an impressive performance from Kelsey Amos, who posted six points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hope Correll, who put up three points along with eight boards and three steals.

Sandhills Valley's record is now 0-13. As for South Loup, with the victory, they broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-15.

Sandhills Valley has already played their next matchup (against Brady), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. South Loup will head out to challenge Mullen on Friday. The timing is sure in Mullen's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while South Loup has been banged up by 13 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
