Football Game Preview: Northern York Polar Bears vs. Shippensburg Greyhounds

The Northern York Polar Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Shippensburg Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northern York comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Northern York is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Hershey on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Polar Bears were outmatched by the Trojans and fell 42-14. While losing is never fun, the Polar Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while the Trojans are ranked 142nd).

Although Northern York took the loss, they still got scores from Cash Keck and Tristan Wenrich.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 47 points the game before, Shippensburg was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. The contest between the Greyhounds and Red Land didn't end well, with the Greyhounds falling 23-7. The game marked the Greyhounds' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Northern York's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Shippensburg, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.

Northern York ended up a good deal behind Shippensburg in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, losing 28-14. Can the Polar Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
