Baseball Game Preview: Heritage Christian Patriots vs. Catholic Central Hilltoppers

The Heritage Christian Patriots will head out to challenge the Catholic Central Hilltoppers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither Heritage Christian nor Catholic Central posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Heritage Christian and St. Francis have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Patriots fell just short of the Mariners by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Patriots have suffered since April 11th.

I. Dufek was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Dufek wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Z. Stubbs, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Catholic Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to Luther Prep.

Heritage Christian now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Catholic Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Heritage Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Catholic Central in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
