Baseball Game Preview: Strawberry Crest Chargers vs. Plant Panthers

The Strawberry Crest Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Plant Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Strawberry Crest comes in on seven and Plant on three.

On Monday, everything went Strawberry Crest's way against King as Strawberry Crest made off with a 10-3 win. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Dillon Knight made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Brisen Tweedy was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matt Hall, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Strawberry Crest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Plant put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Armwood an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Plant's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Strawberry Crest, their record now sits at 8-2.

Strawberry Crest couldn't quite finish off Plant when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Strawberry Crest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
