Preview: Somerset Sky Pointe Eagles vs. Clark Chargers
The Somerset Sky Pointe Eagles are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Clark Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Del Sol scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Somerset Sky Pointe still came out on top. Somerset Sky Pointe snuck past Del Sol with a 61-57 win. The victory was just what Somerset Sky Pointe needed coming off of a 75-46 loss in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Somerset Sky Pointe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emmitt Bell, who scored 21 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bell has scored at least 25% of Somerset Sky Pointe's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamerion Burdiss, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Clark waltzed into Saturday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Douglas 68-45. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 25% better than the opposition, as Clark's was.
Clark's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Coleman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 assists. The game was Coleman's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was De'Shaun Tolever, who scored 17 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
The losses dropped Somerset Sky Pointe to 2-5 and Del Sol to 0-3.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Somerset Sky Pointe have been dynamite from deep this season, having only drained 36.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Clark struggles in that department as they've made 49.8% of theirs this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
