Football Preview: Enfield Eagles vs. Wilbur Cross Governors

The Enfield Eagles will head out to face off against the Wilbur Cross Governors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Enfield is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 48 points last Saturday, they were much more limited against Masuk on Friday. They had to suffer through a 49-6 loss at the hands of the Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Panthers are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, Wilbur Cross had to endure an 11-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 50-20 win over Bassick at home. The high-scoring effort was just what the Governors needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Travis Warren was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 65 yards and two touchdowns. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Montez Walton Jr., who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
