Football Game Preview: John Jay Patriots vs. Mamaroneck Tigers

The John Jay Patriots will face off against the Mamaroneck Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with John Jay sitting on 12 straight victories dating back to last season and Mamaroneck on three.

John Jay is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took down Scarsdale 28-14. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Raiders are ranked 92nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead John Jay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Lawrence, who threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also punched in one rushing score. What's more, Lawrence racked up 149.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September.

John Jay's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Justin Scavino, Michael Forlivio, and Nicholas Pollock, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mamaroneck). They breezed past North Rockland to the tune of 54-20 on Friday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 20 points or more this season.

John Jay's record is now 10-0. As for Mamaroneck, their record now sits at 9-1.

John Jay didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Mamaroneck when the teams last played back in October, but they still walked away with a 20-14 win. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
