Softball Recap: Lapeer Has No Trouble Against Swartz Creek

Lapeer won the last time they faced Swartz Creek and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lightning were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Dragons. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lightning.

Hailey Mozola was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Mattie Tracy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.

Lapeer's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Swartz Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Lapeer and Swartz Creek could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Lightning will challenge Grand Blanc at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (280 vs. 4). Meanwhile, Swartz Creek (ranked 241st) will meet Fenton (ranked 31st) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
