Baseball Game Preview: Oak Ridge Wildcats vs. Karns Beavers

The Oak Ridge Wildcats will head out to square off against the Karns Beavers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Oak Ridge will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Oak Ridge duked it out with Knoxville Central on Tuesday. The Wildcats never let the Bobcats get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory.

The result came thanks to Kam Welch's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oak Ridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Whit Renegar, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Renegar hit this season.

Meanwhile, Karns had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They blew past the Panthers 11-4. The Beavers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Oak Ridge's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Karns, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Oak Ridge took their win against Karns in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Beavers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
