Baseball Recap: Lincoln Lions vs. Westerly Bulldogs

Lincoln took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Westerly, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Carson Mellen made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden Oldham, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jacob Harris also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Lincoln's record now sits at 11-4. As for Westerly, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
