Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Dragons vs. New Madrid County Central Eagles
On Saturday, the St. Mary's Dragons faced the New Madrid County Central Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Mary's fell to the Eagles 85-80. St. Mary's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Madrid County Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jadis Jones, who dropped a double-double on 39 points and 14 rebounds. Jones hasn't dropped below 15 points for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of BJ Williamson, who scored 30 points along with five steals.
St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 14-2. As for New Madrid County Central, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for New Madrid County Central, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Caruthersville is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
