Volleyball Recap: Hobart Brickies vs. Marquette Catholic Blazers
Hobart was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marquette Catholic Blazers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Brickies of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2022.
Cadence Costello paced Hobart's offense, picking up three kills. Costello got some help from Kalli Butcher and her four assists. Butcher was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Marquette Catholic found their leader in freshman Olivia Zmuda, who had 12 digs and three aces. Zmuda has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last seven times she's played. Mackenzie Snyder also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Hobart's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Marquette Catholic, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Hobart didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against South Bend Washington on the 13th. As for Marquette Catholic, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Chesterton on the 13th.
