Osceola proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 16) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Waverly Central Tigers 3-2. The three-run effort marked the Kowboys' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Milanys Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tenley Dawson, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Samanthalea Edwards, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Osceola has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Waverly Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Osceola will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Coral Reef at 6:30 p.m. Osceola's pitchers better be ready for this one: Coral Reef has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Waverly Central, they will head out to take on Canterbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
