Baseball Recap: 12 Straight Home Wins for Katahdin

Katahdin barely beat Hodgdon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars blew past the Hawks 11-1 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won six in a row.

The team relied heavily on Conor Schmidt, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Wesley Pipes, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Katahdin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.

Katahdin's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Hodgdon, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Katahdin will take on Fort Fairfield at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
