Softball Recap: Sandwich Wins Going Away Against Dennis-Yarmouth Regional

Sandwich won the last time they faced Dennis-Yarmouth Regional and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Blue Knights blew past the Dolphins 13-3. With that victory, the Blue Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Sophie Farrington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sandwich got a massive performance out of Lane Kraihanzel, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave Kraihanzel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Consalvi, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Sandwich always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dennis-Yarmouth Regional only posted an OBP of .241.

The win made it two in a row for Sandwich and bumps their season record up to 11-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Dennis-Yarmouth Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Sandwich will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Norwell at 2:30 p.m. As for Dennis-Yarmouth Regional, they will host Monomoy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sharks will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Dolphins surely won't give up without a fight.
