Baseball Game Preview: Colbert Heights Wildcats vs. East Limestone Indians

The Colbert Heights Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the East Limestone Indians at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Colbert Heights will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Cherokee on Friday. Colbert Heights blew past Cherokee 15-5. Considering the Wildcats' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, East Limestone had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Lexington by a score of 9-4 on Friday.

Landon Compton and Matthew Drake did most of the damage at the plate: Compton scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Drake scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Drake also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

Colbert Heights has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. East Limestone now has a winning record of 5-4.

Colbert Heights suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to East Limestone in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Colbert Heights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
