Pleasant Grove is 2-8 against American Fork since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vikings will host the Cavemen at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
American Fork will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Pleasant Grove extended their winning streak to 14 on Saturday. The Vikings put the hurt on Westlake with a sharp 18-5 victory. The Vikings' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Hyrum Long looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Pleasant Grove got a massive performance out of Drew Smith, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those two home runs gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Bennett, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one triple.
Pleasant Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, American Fork faced Lehi in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cavemen were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Pioneers. The game was the first time the Cavemen have beaten the Pioneers on their field since March 16, 2019.
Tege Kelley looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Robinson, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Cooper Jones was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
American Fork has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
