Recap: Braden River Pirates vs. North Port Bobcats

The Braden River Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 38-30 to North Port. If Braden River hoped to take revenge for the 71-47 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

Despite the defeat, Braden River saw an underclassman step up: Kelis Mcgrady scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kamiyah Mcgrady, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Rhiley Richards was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds for North Port. Richards is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Taylor Davidson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Braden River's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for North Port, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Braden River won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Southeast at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Southeast has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for North Port, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Port Charlotte at 5:30 p.m. Port Charlotte presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Port in Florida (Port Charlotte is ranked 145th, while North Port is ranked 334th).
