Charleston won the last time they faced Cumberland and things went their way on Tuesday too. Charleston put the hurt on Cumberland with a sharp 14-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
Railyn Cox made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Rylee Shrader was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Avery Beals was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
Charleston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cumberland only posted an OBP of .318.
Charleston now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cumberland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charleston will head out to square off against Teutopolis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cumberland, they will venture away from home to face off against Richland County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cumberland will need to watch out since Richland County has now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
