Baseball Recap: Azusa Triumphs

Azusa hadn't done well against Nogales recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Aztecs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Nobles, sneaking past 11-9. This was a revenge game for the Aztecs: when they faced off against the Nobles back in March, they had to take a 4-1 loss.

Jacob Elliot was a standout: he went 4-for-6 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Aidan Sanchez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Azusa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 12 consecutive games.

The victory got Azusa back to even at 9-9. As for Nogales, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Azusa will have a chance to go back-to-back against Nogales: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
