Baseball Game Preview: Fultondale Wildcats vs. Carver Birmingham Rams

The Fultondale Wildcats will head out to challenge the Carver Birmingham Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Carver Birmingham took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Fultondale, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Fultondale turned things around against Fairfield on Friday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 14-1 victory. The Wildcats not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 15th.

Hayden Tanner looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Jaiden Palmer and Austin Rogers did most of the damage at the plate: Palmer scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Rogers went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Rogers has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Sanderson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Fultondale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairfield only posted a batting average of .125.

Meanwhile, Carver Birmingham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Paul W. Bryant.

Carver Birmingham's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Fultondale, their record is now 8-10.

Fultondale took their win against Carver Birmingham in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 16-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fultondale since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
