Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eagle). They blew past the Borah Lions 20-3 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Peyton Bargen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Bargen was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Ellie McManigal and Aly Vieira did most of the damage at the plate: McManigal went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Vieira went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave Vieira a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Erin Thoreson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Eagle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Eagle's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Borah, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.
