Soccer Game Preview: Newman Smith vs. Creekview

The Newman Smith Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Creekview Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Newman Smith managed to keep up with Highland Park until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Newman Smith lost 4-1 to Highland Park. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 526th, while the Scots are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Creekview brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on The Colony with a sharp 6-1 win on Friday. With the Mustangs ahead 4-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Newman Smith dropped their record down to 4-15-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Creekview, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-15-2.

Newman Smith came out on top in a nail-biter against Creekview in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newman Smith since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
