Softball Recap: Dyer County Beats Westview for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Dyer County barely beat Westview the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dyer County Choctaws blew past the Westview Chargers 17-3 on Thursday. With that victory, the Choctaws brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Katie Caldwell was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kierstyn Ray, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Dyer County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the fifth in a row for Dyer County, bringing their record for this year to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Westview, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Dyer County is taking a road trip to square off against Arlington at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Dyer County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Arlington's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Westview, they will host Crockett County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Crockett County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
