Volleyball Recap: Lorain Beats Shaker Heights for Their Fourth Straight Win

Lorain had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came out on top against the Shaker Heights Red Raiders by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on September 4th.

While Lorain might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Shaker Heights scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-20.

Lorain was led to victory by Jaila Kirksey and Jayla King. Kirksey had 14 assists and seven digs, while King had 19 digs, seven kills, five aces, and two blocks. That's the most kills King has posted over her last eight matchups.

They weren't the only good servers: Lorain was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive contests.

Lorain's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Shaker Heights, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Lorain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Keystone on the 27th. As for Shaker Heights, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Mentor on the 30th.
