Baseball Recap: Unionville Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Unionville can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They skirted past the Great Valley Patriots 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Longhorns have posted since May 14, 2024.

Nate Bonsall made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Unionville is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 2-6 otherwise. Bonsall was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Asher Manning was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Parise, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Unionville's record now sits at 5-6. As for Great Valley, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3.

Looking ahead, Unionville will challenge Coatesville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Longhorns' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Great Valley, they will take on Kennett at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Demons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
