Basketball Recap: Bunn Comes Up Short

Bunn lost against Nash Central back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bunn Wildcats fell 42-32 to the Nash Central Bulldogs. The Wildcats' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it eight in a row.

Despite the loss, Bunn saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ny'lah Mitchell dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Arnold, who went 6 for 14 to rack up 13 points.

Nash Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was JaKayla Gay out in front who posted 12 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Cameron Fate, who had five points and seven rebounds.

Bunn's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Nash Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Bunn will venture away from home to challenge Roanoke Rapids at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bunn is facing Roanoke Rapids at the right time seeing as Roanoke Rapids is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Nash Central, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-23 victory against Southeast Halifax on the 11th.
