Recap: Cedar Valley Aviators vs. Red Mountain Mountain Lions
The Cedar Valley Aviators waltzed into their game Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 53-40 victory over Red Mountain. That looming 53-40 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Cedar Valley yet this season.
Cedar Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Heath Christensen out in front who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Christensen's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Larson, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, Red Mountain still got an impressive performance from Bjorn Molenaar, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Bryce Bigler was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Cedar Valley's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Red Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
Cedar Valley and Cesar Chavez will face off at 2:00 p.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cesar Chavez knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Cedar Valley likes a good challenge. Red Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Scottsdale Christian Academy at 12:30 p.m. on December 30th.
