Basketball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial was the 66-32 winner over Antonito when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Centennial Rams took a 44-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Antonito Trojans on Saturday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Centennial lost, don't look at Jose Molina. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 19 to rack up 21 points and five steals. Those 21 points gave Molina a new career-high. Jeremy Sandoval was another key player, putting up seven points and 12 boards.

Antonito found their leader in sophomore Octavian Martinez, who posted 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for Martinez. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Trant, who earned seven points.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Antonito, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10.

Centennial has already played their next game, a 51-48 defeat against Manzanola on the 11th. As for Antonito, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake City Community at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Antonito is facing Lake City Community at the right time seeing as Lake City Community is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
