Softball Game Preview: Chaffey Tigers vs. Diamond Ranch Panthers

For the second straight game, Chaffey will face off against Diamond Ranch. The Tigers will square off against the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chaffey has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Diamond Ranch will arrive with three straight wins.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Chaffey's offense. They came up short against Diamond Ranch on Wednesday, falling 14-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

For Diamond Ranch's part, not much got past Audrinna Mora, who gave up just two hits to keep Chaffey off the board. Mora has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Diamond Ranch let Olivia Jauregui and Rayanna Quintanar run wild. Jauregui fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Quintanar went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs Jauregui has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Liset Renteria, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Diamond Ranch lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Chaffey's loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1. As for Diamond Ranch, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chaffey hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like Diamond Ranch struggles in that department as they've averaged .385. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
