Baseball Game Preview: Covenant Day Lions vs. Goose Creek Gators

The Covenant Day Lions will square off against the Goose Creek Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The last five games Covenant Day has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Covenant Day's win against Rabun Gap-Nacoochee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Covenant Day had just enough and edged out Rabun Gap-Nacoochee 2-1 on Saturday.

James Cosper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brode Dixon, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Goose Creek was not the first on the board last Thursday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Timberland with a sharp 20-2 victory. The Gators have beaten the Wolves the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolves has come to flipping the script.

Covenant Day pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Goose Creek, their record is now 2-0-2.
