Basketball Recap: Christchurch School Comes Up Short

Christchurch School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Collegiate Cougars, falling 68-34. The Seahorses lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 52-49 score last time.

Frank Macnelly continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Collegiate, going 7 of 13 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Odom, who posted ten points.

Christchurch School's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Collegiate, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christchurch School will venture away from home to take on Veritas Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Veritas Collegiate Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 23 games -- so hopefully Christchurch School likes a good challenge. As for Collegiate, they are taking a road trip to square off against Trinity Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Collegiate has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
