Football Recap: St. Patrick Skates Past Byron with Ease

St. Patrick put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Byron Eagles 62-22. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-0.

St. Patrick got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jerryd Scheurer out in front who rushed for 64 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 65 yards and one TD. Hudson King was another key back, rushing for 129 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Patrick was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 538 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Byron only rushed for five rushing yards.

St. Patrick didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Scheurer led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Ben White has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 13 times he's played.

St. Patrick's record is now 3-0. As for Byron, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

St. Patrick didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-6 win against Fulton on the 20th. As for Byron, they have also already played their next game, a 41-20 defeat against St. Charles on the 19th.
