Baseball Recap: Bowlegs Comes Up Short

Bowlegs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Olive Wildcats, falling 14-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-9 back in March.

Austen Byrd made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Bowlegs is 4-2 when Byrd posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Greg Gentry, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Bowlegs' loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Olive, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Bowlegs will square off against Midway at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Olive, they will venture away from home to challenge Prue at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 12.2 runs per game this season.
