Sudan will bounce into Friday's match after beating Vega, who they hadn't topped in three consecutive meetings. Sudan put the hurt on Vega with a sharp 41-20 win on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-14.

Jaibryn Ornelas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, picking up 218 receiving yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 119.5 receiving yards per game.

Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Plains, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took their matchup on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 57-30 victory over Crosbyton. The Cowboys' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Gavin Broome was his usual excellent self, rushing for 135 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 221 yards and five touchdowns. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Jeremiah Gonzales did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 34 receiving yards.

Plains wouldn't let Crosbyton keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Plains can thank Blake Wilson and Jonathan Badillo for forcing both of them. Badillo also set a new season high mark in total tackles with 15.

The win got Sudan back to even at 2-2. As for Plains, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.

Friday's match might be decided in the trenches. Sudan has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 224 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Plains, though, as they've been averaging only 91.2. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

Sudan didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Plains when the teams last played back in September of 2023, but they still walked away with a 47-42 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Plains' Tyler Vargas, who threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for Sudan to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
