Basketball Game Preview: Weatherford Eagles vs. Guymon Tigers

The Weatherford Eagles will head out to challenge the Guymon Tigers at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Weatherford will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

On Tuesday, Weatherford was able to grind out a solid win over Woodward, taking the game 66-54. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Boomers are ranked 97th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Guymon scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Southeast, falling 88-68. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost four in a row.

Guymon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Weatherford, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.

Everything came up roses for Weatherford against Guymon when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 72-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
