Basketball Game Preview: Deer Park Deer vs. Clear Springs Chargers

Deer Park and Clear Springs are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Deer Park Deer will venture away from home to face off against the Clear Springs Chargers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clear Springs took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Deer Park, who comes in off a win.

Deer Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Brazoswood 84-18 on Wednesday. The Deer pushed the score to 53-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Buccaneers had no chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, Clear Springs played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 67-36 loss at the hands of Dickinson. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 890th, while the Gators are ranked 88th).

Clear Springs has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-24 record this season. As for Deer Park, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-15.

Everything came up roses for Deer Park against Clear Springs in their previous meeting on January 7th, as the squad secured a 60-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Deer Park since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
