Basketball Recap: Riverdale Comes Up Short

Riverdale extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-14. They took a blow against the Fort Myers Green Wave, falling 46-11. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 61-13 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Riverdale still got an impressive performance from BreElla Wakkinen, who posted six points. Keiliana Oliveras also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

As for Fort Myers, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 24 points or more this season.

Fort Myers got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayden Smutney out in front who went 6-for-10 to rack up 16 points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Smutney a new career-high in shooting accuracy (60%). Skye DouglaS was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven steals and five assists.

Looking ahead, Riverdale is taking a road trip to square off against Ida Baker at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fort Myers, they will host Lely at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
