Basketball Recap: Staples Falls Despite Big Games from Addie Talbott and Riely Gullans

If Staples was feeling good fresh off their 59-21 takedown of Westhill last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Staples Wreckers lost 58-38 to the Ridgefield Tigers on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Wreckers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.

Staples' loss came despite strong showings from Riely Gullans and Addie Talbott. Gullans posted eight points and nine boards, while Talbott had five points and four steals. Talbott is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Staples smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Staples' loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Ridgefield, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

As of now, neither Staples nor Ridgefield have any future games scheduled.
